Canonical digests for compressed archives conference paper

Just came back from presenting new research work at DocEng 2026. Saed and I presented a new technique to create canonical digests for compressed archives that is independent of compression algorithm and archive format. The digests enable off-line and remote comparison of compressed archives with differing metadata fields. They should help with tasks such as download deduplication, content distribution, and compression flexibility. Read the full paper here.

CemoMemo Halutzi epitaphs journal paper

Efrat Kantor and I just published a paper that uses the CemoMemo cemetery digitization system to analyze how Halutzi-era Jews in the Land of Israel memorialized their dead. We performed a data driven analysis on hundreds of period gravestones and epitaphs, including a sentiment analysis of all gravestones that mention cause of death. We placed special emphasis on gravestones from people who killed themselves to help explore how gravestones with suicide as the cause of death differ from gravestones for people who died by other means.
