CemoMemo is a collaborative crowd-based platform for digitizing and digitally preserving gravestones. It is a free service supported by research grants. As a collaborative platform, CemoMemo relies on individuals to document graves that are important to them, to improve and correct its database, and to enrich the historical record CemoMemo preserves.

Anyone can search CemoMemo without creating an account or logging in. You must create an account and login to upload a new gravestone or to edit existing gravestones. Accounts are created using OAuth 2.0 authentication via Google or Facebook.

CemoMemo collects Personally Identifiable Information (PII) about you when you create an account. The information that we collect includes your name, email address, and profile picture from the service (i.e. Google or Facebook) that you use for OAuth 2.0 authentication. CemoMemo does not receive or collect your Google or Facebook password.

When you upload a gravestone using our mobile or web interface, CemoMemo will attempt to find your geographic location using GPS to tag the location of the grave being uploaded. If successful, the geolocation information will be stored with the gravestone record.

When you use CemoMemo’s mobile navigation feature, CemoMemo will access your current geographic location using GPS as part of the navigation. The location information is found only on your mobile device and is not sent to our servers.

Our webservers record log information for debugging and profiling services. The records may include your internet protocol (IP) address (PII), date, and time of access.

On our about page you can provide your name and email address (PII) to receive periodic updates from CemoMemo and its team.

As part of the login process, we use cookies. The cookies are stored on your computer during your session with CemoMemo and are used to identify you to our servers.

If you provided your email address to receive updates, we may use it to send you periodic updates about CemoMemo.

When you create or edit a gravestone record, we post your name on the "Contributors" section of the record, publicly acknowledging your contribution to the record.

After you create or a modify a gravestone record, we will send you email updates to the email address connected to your account whenever someone updates or comments on the gravestone you created or modified.

If you provided geolocation information for a gravestone, we will use the information to allow you or others to navigate to the location of the gravestone.

We may use information in our logs for performance checks and investigation of bugs.

We will not use your information for anything other than providing the CemoMemo service or keeping you updated about the information on it. We will not sell or provide your information to others.

We retain information related to your account so long as you keep it open.

We retain geolocation information for gravestones for as long as they are in the database.

We retain information in our server logs for as long as necessary to allow for debugging and incident analysis.

If you want to close your account and remove your personal information from CemoMemo, you may send a request to cemomemo@mx.kinneret.ac.il Include the email or Facebook account information that you used to create the account.

If you want to remove your email from the periodic update list, send a request to cemomemo@mx.kinneret.ac.il with the word “Unsubscribe” in the subject from the email address you wish to remove. You will be removed immediately from all future update emails.

If you want to remove the gravestones and information that you have added to CemoMemo, send a request to cemomemo@mx.kinneret.ac.il with your email or Facebook account information and a list of gravestones you created or updates you performed that you wish to remove. We will do our best to honor your request without harming information provided by other users.

CemoMemo stores its data on multiple servers, including ones located in Israel and the United States of America. Personal information such as names and email addresses are stored on servers owned and controlled by us. Media (i.e. photographs) are stored on servers controlled by us that we rent from third party storage providers.

By using the website located at https://www.cemomemo.org (the "Site") or any services provided in connection with the Site (the "Service"), you agree to abide by these Terms of Use, as they may be amended by Kinneret College on the Sea of Galilee (the "Sponsors," "we" "our" or "us") from time to time at its sole discretion. Users signify that they have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions set forth in this agreement (the "Agreement") and to the Privacy Policy, incorporated herein. CemoMemo including the name, trademarks, branding, features and functionality is owned exclusively by Kinneret Academic College, an Israeli public institution for higher education. You are not authorized to use any such Marks. Ownership of all such Marks and the goodwill associated therewith remains with us or those other entities.

Users may use the Service to access CemoMemo’s text, media, messages, images, videos, photographs, coordinates, lists, and other media (the "Content").

CemoMemo may make changes to these terms and conditions or privacy policy by giving 30 days’ notice of the changes on the CemoMemo website. If you don’t agree with the new Terms, you should unsubscribe and stop using our services.

Users may access CemoMemo as registered or unregistered users. Unregistered users may search and view all content on CemoMemo and use its navigation services without the need to identify themselves. Registered users must login using an existing Facebook or Google account and allow CemoMemo to access personally identifiable information about them as described in the Privacy Policy.

By registering for and creating an account on CemoMemo, you represent that: (a) all required registration information you submit is truthful and accurate; (b) you will maintain the accuracy of such information; and (c) your use of the Services does not violate any applicable law or regulation. Your member profile may be deleted without warning if we have reason to believe that you do not meet or maintain eligibility requirements. You are solely responsible for the activity that occurs on your account and you must keep your account secure. You must notify CemoMemo immediately of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account. Although CemoMemo will not be liable for losses caused by any unauthorized account use, you may be liable if your account is used in violation of these terms and conditions.

CemoMemo may contain links to websites owned and operated by third parties that are not owned or controlled by CemoMemo. CemoMemo has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party website. CemoMemo cannot and will not edit or censor content on third-party websites. Users expressly release CemoMemo of any liability arising from use of a third-party website.

By using CemoMemo, users who are not citizens or residents of Israel hereby agree that they will comply with all local rules regarding online conduct and acceptable content. International users further agree that they will comply with any local law governing privacy in addition to the privacy laws of Israel when posting user Content. To the fullest extent permitted by law, users consent to the collection of Personal Information as set forth in our Privacy Policy.

CemoMemo hereby grants users permission to use the CemoMemo application and website according to the following terms and conditions. All users agree that they will use CemoMemo for recording and searching for genealogical or historical research and not for any commercial purpose. CemoMemo does not claim a copyright to images already in the public domain that it has then converted into a digital format.

All users agree that they will refrain from any offensive behavior and that they will not:

1. Harass or abuse other users;
2. Violate the privacy of others;
3. Infringe the copyrights, trademarks, patents, or proprietary rights of others;
4. Engage in vandalism or any activity that impedes the work of others;
5. Use CemoMemo to transmit, upload, post or link to any content that is libelous, hateful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, unlawful, threatening, abusive or vulgar;
6. Post or publish any information that is known to be false or misleading;
7. Impersonate any other person;
8. Post any content that violates the copyright or right of publicity or any other right of another person;
9. Use CemoMemo to harm or solicit personal information from any minor;
10. Post or attempt to post advertisements or commercial solicitations;
11. Send, post or transmit a software virus, trojan horse, or other computer code, files or programs designed to interfere with, disable or destroy the software, hardware or equipment of others; or
12. Attempt to harm, disable, or damage CemoMemo, its equipment, databases, or information

CemoMemo prohibits users or any other person from engaging in any activity that CemoMemo, at its sole discretion, determines offensive, interferes with the rights of others, or causes harm to any person, including CemoMemo. CemoMemo reserves the right to terminate the use of CemoMemo to any user who violates these terms and conditions as well as any other remedy that CemoMemo may pursue in the event of a breach of this Agreement.

You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes, any portion of the Content, Site, or Services, use of the Content, Site, or Services, or access to the Content, Site, or Services. Without our prior written consent, you may not (a) allow, enable, or otherwise support the transmission of mass unsolicited, commercial advertising or solicitations via e-mail (spam); (b) use any high volume, automated, or electronic means (including without limitation robots, spiders, scripts or other automatic device) to access the Services or monitor or copy our web pages or the content contained on them; (c) link or deep-link to CemoMemo for any purpose; or (d) frame CemoMemo, place pop-up windows over its pages, or otherwise affect the display of its pages.

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Site or Services with or without notice to you. We shall not be liable to you or any third party should we exercise our right to modify or discontinue the Site or Services. If you object to any such changes, your sole recourse shall be to cease using the Site or Services. Continued use of the Site or Services following notice of any such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes and satisfaction with the Site or Services as so modified.

You acknowledge that CemoMemo owns all right, title and interest in and to the services and content including without limitation, the Site and all underlying software and technology, including without limitation all Intellectual Property Rights. "Intellectual Property Rights" means any and all rights existing from time to time under patent law, copyright law, trade secret law, trademark law, unfair competition law, and any and all other proprietary rights, and any and all applications, renewals, extensions and restorations thereof, now or hereafter in force and effect worldwide.

CemoMemo allows for documentation of grave stones in real time and navigation to graves by using global positioning information. You must take all applicable cautions when using the CemoMemo service, whether documenting, navigating, or performing some other task. Do not place yourself or others at risk when using CemoMemo; do not violate property rights, perform any illegal actions, or place yourself in danger. Any damage or injury to body or property that occurs while using CemoMemo will be the sole responsibility of the user.

CemoMemo navigation relies on geolocation information submitted by other users and may not be accurate. Before using the navigation feature, make sure the location is accurate. Do not take any risks when following navigation directions.

You agree that CemoMemo will not be responsible or liable for any loss, cost, damage, or other liability of any sort incurred as the result of any dealings with the Site or Service, or as the result of the presence of others on the Service and you hereby irrevocably waive any claims against CemoMemo arising from or related to your efforts as a volunteer.

You agree that we, in our sole discretion, may terminate your CemoMemo account or other use of the Site or Service without prior notice, and remove and discard your Content from the Site, for any reason and without prior notice, including, without limitation, if we believe that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the Terms. Further, you agree that we shall not be liable to you or any other party for any termination of your access to the services. You may discontinue your participation in and access to the Service at any time.

You may terminate your free CemoMemo membership at any time, for any reason, by contacting support. We may terminate your membership for any reason, effective upon sending notice to you at the primary e-mail address you have stored in your CemoMemo profile.

You expressly agree that use of the CemoMemo is at your sole risk. The Service and Site are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. CemoMemo expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular use or purpose and non-infringement with respect to the services. CemoMemo makes no warranty that the services or site will meet your requirements, or that the services or site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error free; nor does CemoMemo make any warranty as to the results that may be obtained from the use of the services or site or as to the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through the services or site, or that defects in the services or site will be corrected. You understand and agree that any material and/or information downloaded or otherwise obtained through use of the Service or Site is done at your own discretion and risk and that you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer or loss of data that results from the download of such material and/or information. The entire risk as to satisfactory quality, performance, accuracy, effort and results to be obtained through the use of the Site or the Service is with you. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from CemoMemo or through the services shall create any warranty not expressly made herein.

Limitation on Liability . You understand that to the extent permitted under applicable law, in no event will CemoMemo or its officers, employees, directors, parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of life, revenues, profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if such parties were advised of, knew of or should have known of the possibility of such damages, and notwithstanding the failure of essential purpose of any limited remedy), arising out of or related to your use of the Site or the Service, regardless of whether such damages are based on contract, tort (including negligence and strict liability), warranty, statute or otherwise. If you are dissatisfied with any portion of this Site, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue use of the Site and Service.

Portions of the Service and Content are submitted by you and others as part of their use of the Service, including photos, comments, images, notes, suggestions, corrections, videos, lists, geographic location information, and transcriptions. Each user shall be solely responsible for their own submissions and the consequences of posting or publishing them.

You must only submit content that you own or that you are authorized to use. Once you have submitted Content, you grant CemoMemo a worldwide, non-transferable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, use, reproduce, modify, produce derivative works from, and display the Content on CemoMemo. You must not submit content that is offensive, violates the copyrights of others, violates the intellectual property or trademarks of others, espouses hatred, violates the privacy of others, violates any applicable laws, or is intentionally incorrect.

You may request that that content you submitted be removed from CemoMemo by contacting support. Such requests will be honored within 30 days subject to technical feasibility and our commitment to not harm information provided by other users.

Users are strongly encouraged to notify us of any offensive, indecent, objectionable or pornographic material on CemoMemo. We will remove any material that we, at our sole discretion, determine violates these terms and conditions, but we make no assurance that content you believe is offensive will be removed.

CemoMemo is sensitive to copyright, property, and trademark laws. CemoMemo will remove all content and user submissions if properly notified that such content violates any copyright protection or infringes on another's intellectual property rights. CemoMemo reserves the right to remove content and user submissions or terminate a user’s account without prior notice. CemoMemo also reserves the right to decide whether content or a user submission is appropriate and complies with these terms and conditions.

Except as set out in this section, the content on CemoMemo, including, without limitation, the text, software, scripts, graphics, pictures, photos, sounds, interactive features and the like ("Content") and the trademarks, service marks and logos contained therein ("Marks"), are owned by or licensed to CemoMemo, subject to copyright and other intellectual property rights under Israeli and foreign laws and international conventions.

All Content on CemoMemo, whether protected by copyright, contract rights, or both, is provided to you AS IS for your information and personal use only as permitted through CemoMemo. Except as permitted by these terms and conditions, Content may not be used, copied, reproduced, distributed, transmitted, broadcast, displayed, sold, licensed, or otherwise exploited for any other purposes whatsoever without the prior written consent of the respective owners. Each user agrees not to engage in the use, copying, or distribution of any of the Content other than expressly permitted herein, including any use, copying, or distribution of user submissions of third parties obtained through CemoMemo for any commercial purposes. Users who download or print a copy of the Content for personal use, must retain all copyright and other proprietary notices contained therein. Users agree not to circumvent, disable or otherwise interfere with security related features of CemoMemo or features that prevent or restrict use of copying of any Content or enforce limitations on use of CemoMemo or Service or the Content therein.
